Content Updates

Clients subscribing to X-Plain receive regular software updates. Our online update services are very flexible, allowing our clients to customize their update processes. For instance, our clients can specify which updates to receive (new topics, updates only for the topics they choose, or both), how frequently to receive them, and who should be notified of the updates.

Our Medical Advisory Board and Medical Director review the medical content on an annual basis, and issue updates as needed. We distinguish two types of content updates: critical updates and enhancement updates.

• Critical updates refer to changes in text and the related audio. If there is a critical update we immediately revise the outdated medical information.
• Enhancement updates refer to changes in graphics, illustrations, animations, audio effects, and streaming that improve the quality of the tutorial.

We offer several methods for updating our clients’ licensed patient education libraries:

• Online updates: Clients running X-Plain from our servers receive updates instantaneously at the time they are published.
• Standalone updates: Clients running X-Plain from standalone computers receive updates on CD-ROM or DVD. The updates are sent periodically (quarterly, semi-annually or annually) and based on the client’s preferences.
• Partner’s updates: Clients running X-Plain from our partners’ hardware receive updates through our partners’ servers. Our partners receive automated updates through our web services.
